Apartment Suite "Piazza Vittorio Emanuele"
Vittorio Emanuele’s square, the current Andrea Costa, is the main and most beautiful square in Pieve.
The best times to visit it are in the morning when it is animated by the chatter of passers-by, or on spring and autumn evenings when the setting sun illuminates the church and the Town Hall facades.
The main public and religious buildings overlook the square, such as the Collegiate di Santa Maria Maggiore, the oldest of Cento-Pieve (eighth/eleventh century AD).
The richness of its architecture and its works contain evidence of the importance and quality of religious life in Pieve at that time.
To the left of the church is the Town Hall, dating back to 1601. The current eighteenth-century facade has a clock tower in the center surrounded by four statues representing the Four Seasons.
In the center, the coat of arms of Pieve, flanked by two allegorical figures, the Fortress and Loyalty, illustrates the fortiter et fideliter motion of the municipal coat of arms.
Inside the building, in addition to the town offices, there is the Notary Archives, preserved intact in its valuable painted furniture of the eighteenth century.
Another valuable presence is the Municipal Theatre, an example of a place for performances inside a public building.
In front of the Town Hall, the eighteenth-century Mastellari Palace, already the seat of the hospital, enlarged in 1770, is now the seat of the Cultural Center V. Ramponi, which groups the municipal library, the picture gallery, the historical archive, and the ancient library of the Collegio degli Scolopi.
